I Do Know What It Means
A brief story about Malcolm S. Townes based on the recollections of Bobby Townes
When Malcolm was very young, probably around 3 or 4 years of age, he started going around calling people "honky." One day his uncle, Bobby Townes, heard him. Appropriately, Bobby chastised Malcolm for saying this word and told him to stop calling people by that epitaph noting that it was ugly. To drive the message home, Bobby pointed out that Malcolm "didn't even know what the word meant." In an uncharacteristically defiant moment for Malcolm, he responded to his Uncle Bobby with "yes I do know what it means." Believing that Malcolm was bluffing, Bobby decided to call him on it and demanded that Malcolm tell him what the word meant. To this, Malcolm confidently replied "an old motherfucker that don't know nothing." Ah, out of the mouths of babes.
