Atlanta was founded in 1837 at the end of the Western & Atlantic railroad line. It was first named Marthasville in honor of the then-governor's daughter and nicknamed Terminus for its rail location. Soon after it changed to Atlanta, the feminine of Atlantic (as in the railroad). Today, Atlanta is a fast-growing city that remains a transportation hub, not just for the country but also for the world.
For more than 20 years, Atlanta has experienced unprecedented growth. While the official city population remains steady at about 420,000, the metro population has grown in the past decade by nearly 40 percent, from roughly 2.9 million to over 4.1 million people. A good measure of this growth is the ever-changing downtown skyline, along with skyscrapers constructed in the Midtown, Buckhead, and outer perimeter (fringing I-285) business districts.

Kevin and Dionne McGee
The 2018 Family Reunion was hosted by Kevin and Dionne McGee. Kevin is the son of Jacqueline Townes McGee and Albert McGee and the grandson of Robbie Williams Townes and Augustus "Gus" Townes, Sr. He and Dionne have two children -- Kayla and Amaya.
